Soulfest 2009
SoulFest Press Release
SoulFest is New England’s premier multi-day music festival and family retreat, celebrating music, love, and action. SoulFest takes place every summer at Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, New Hampshire. This year’s festival will be held July 29th through August 1st and is sure to be one of the best yet! SoulFest features over 100 world-renown musical artists on five different stages. Some performers scheduled to appear from the main stage this year include Casting Crowns, Third Day, Newsboys, Skillet, Natalie Grant, Sanctus Real, Family Force 5, Paul Colman, also featuring on the alternative stage are Norma Jean, As I lay Dying, Haste the Day, Day of Fire, and many many more. But SoulFest isn’t just about the music; another important part of the festival is the Soul University, which offers seminars and
discussions led by powerful and though-provoking speakers.
This year’s theme for SoulFest is True Love in Action as we take a stand on social justice issues in our family, communities and across the globe. Over 2 million dollars have been raised to help charity organizations through out the 11 years of SoulFest’s existence. This year will be no different featuring the NOT4SALEcampaign.org abolition academy, Global Benefit, Mercy Ships, HES, and lastly SoulFest has adopted a war torn village in northern Uganda where ChildVoice International is working to bring healing to a community ravaged by war through building schools, wells, a medical clinic, income generating projects and more. There will be several special first-time events, such as the Walk4Water where people can experience having to gather water to survive and SoulFILMFest where you can enter your short film to be judged for prizes plus African games, mini-golf tournament, and our first paddle boat race!
In addition to the music, seminars and fun, SoulFest provides a variety of other activities for families and individuals to participate in on-site including scenic rides on the panoramic lift, mini golf, extreme games, paddle boating, swimming, horseback riding, kayaking, and skating at the skate park. Festival-goers have their choice of camping on-site at Gunstock Mountain Resort, one of many close by off-site campgrounds, or staying in one of the many nearby hotels or resorts. Reserved parking will be available along with upgrades, meet and greets and more. For more information or to purchase tickets check out www.thesoulfest.com or call 978-346-4577.
